Many of us are surprise to learn our freshwater lakes and rivers hosts sponges. Sponges are not only found in ocean. St. Laurence river got a lot of it. Wrecks located in St. Laurence river form a perfect substrate for sponges development which filters water.

We can easily see those sponges on the current exposed side of those wrecks.

  The Robert Gaskin wreck located in St. Laurence river near Brockville, Ontario shows a lot of those sponges.
